IMPRESSIONS

Rural areas have received little attention as an experimental field for makers so far. The term "maker" describes a technically interested person who creatively uses and experiments with various technologies in his or her specific environment.

In so-called mini-maker fairs, the solutions found are made visible and presented to the public. Young people in particular are given a first insight into the application-oriented and quite entertaining area of the so-called MINT subjects. Mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology are combined in many different ways by the makers, be it 3D printing, drones, robotics, but also wood and metal processing, programming and even artistic approaches in design, printing or textile production.

With the help of the Saxon State Ministry for Regional Development, Maker eV from Chemnitz has developed Maker Faires (festivals) in five rural Saxon towns as part of a simul+ model project and has supported local actors with financial and organizational help.
