Tools in hand.
Here you don't just show things, you try them out: box lids become camping stools, glasses get their own engravings, metal is processed, circuits are soldered and personal, unique pieces are created from simple materials.
makers united is an international participation and innovation festival for everyone who not only wants to look at the future, but also wants to try it out, build and help shape it.
The makers united brings together a workshop, laboratory, classroom, studio and stage. Small objects, big aha moments and conversations about technology, creativity and the future of the region are created at the stands.
Here you don't just show things, you try them out: box lids become camping stools, glasses get their own engravings, metal is processed, circuits are soldered and personal, unique pieces are created from simple materials.
At Young Makers Day, school classes discover technology and design in compact workshops: from Calliope challenges and robotics courses to upcycling, textiles, energy experiments and creative material samples.
Lace-making with laser-cut frames, weaving alongside 3D printing, Kintsugi alongside recycled materials: many offerings combine old crafts with new tools and sustainable ideas.
Mini vehicles follow programmed routes, learning robots react to codes, drones and sensors show how software becomes movement. Digital sovereignty and open technology also have space.
Movement becomes music, an apple provides electricity, smoke rings fly through the air and a bicycle simulator makes performance visible. Technology becomes understandable because you can feel it.
The exhibitors are sorted by offerings: This makes it easy to see which workshops, experiments and hands-on stations await you and who is designing them on site.
The FUNKEN Akademie is a platform for the interaction of art and technology. In FUNKEN Pilot, artists and technology companies from Saxony work together in tandems: for one day, with material from the companies' everyday work. At makers united they will show the results from the day before: physical future models on a scale of 1:100, gathered in a shared “museum for potential futures”.
Kintsugi, upcycling, robotics, material experiments and perspectives from international makerspaces meet local workshops and the Maker Residence.
Wood, metal, casting, mold making and traditional tools can be experienced practically: visitors build, design, engrave, cast and test their own objects.
From sewing machines and lace art to graphics tablets, stickers, glass engraving and musical instruments: design becomes immediate and personal here.
Robots drive, fight, follow lines or are created directly in the workshop. There are also open technology, coding challenges, 3D printing, Linux, sensor technology and digital participation.
Wind power, electricity from apples, bicycle sensors, rail and vehicle technology, electrical engineering and smart prototypes make science tangible.
The STEAM lounge, media activities, design awards and learning games create points of contact for schools, families, teachers, companies and the creative industries.
Exhibitors at makers united don't just bring a presentation, but an active offer: build, test, experiment, explain and talk directly to visitors. This is exactly how special contact is created with families, teachers, students, developers and future skilled professionals.
Friday, June 26th, 2026, 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.: School classes discover compact workshops of 45-50 minutes on practice, technology and creativity in small groups.
Saturday, 27 June 2026: The Stadthalle is open for the public festival. Offers where visitors become active themselves are especially strong.
Non-commercial exhibitors take part free of charge. Stand fees may apply for commercial exhibitors; Details will be coordinated directly.
Exhibitors impart know-how at a low threshold, show real practice and reach young talent, families, schools and the regional maker community.
Friday belongs to school classes; on Saturday, the Stadthalle opens to everyone. In between: workshops, demonstrations, open workshops, experiments and encounters with makers from Chemnitz, Saxony and beyond.
Friday is reserved for school classes. In small groups, participants build, code, design and explore. Ideal for anyone who wants not only to explain STEAM, crafts and creativity, but to experience them.
The public festival opens at 10 a.m. Visitors can move freely through the Stadthalle, discover stands, ask questions and take part directly at many stations.
The knowledge format for young explorers brings big questions to the stage. 2026 with Simón Albers, known from Woozle Goozle.
The full program runs until 6 p.m.: robot arena, textile workshop, energy experiments, media and coding stations, crafts, design, advice and open discussions with the maker community.
Young Maker University is coming to Chemnitz in 2026 with Simón Albers. Many people know him from Woozle Goozle; at makers united, he brings his curiosity, knowledge and joy in surprising explanations to the stage.
Even as a child, “Why” was Simón’s favorite word. He wanted to have an explanation for everything and this curiosity remained. After studying sports science, English and psychology in Kiel, his path as a presenter and editor led him to SUPER RTL on formats such as 1LIVE and WDR.
To this day, his focus is on sharing knowledge and discovering new things. At Young Maker University, Simón shares his curiosity with the audience and will certainly learn a thing or two himself at the Stadthalle.
Whether it's a family outing, a project day, an exhibitor stand or a partnership: the makers united is open to people who are curious, want to share knowledge or inspire young talent for technology and design.
Come by, try out the stations and take ideas home with you: from a self-designed trailer to a programmed robot, from a vintage car selfie to your own little circuit.
Admission on Saturday remains, thanks to the support of Community4you AG and Auprotec free of charge.
Bring your workshop, your experiment or your educational station to the festival. Offers where visitors can build, test, ask questions and take something with them are particularly strong.
The Young Makers Day makes career orientation and future skills practical: short distances, fixed time windows and offers that work even without prior knowledge.
Participation for school classes also remains free thanks to Community4you AG and Auprotec.
Partners help to make workshops, educational formats and international maker experiences visible. This is how a festival becomes a network for young talent, innovation and urban society.

Maker e.V. maintains contacts with makerspaces, educational partners, companies, universities and international organizations all year round.
Support flows into educational offerings, exchange formats, residencies, festival offerings and the development of a viable maker ecosystem.
It reaches families, school classes, teachers, students, developers, creative people, companies and young people with an interest in future technologies.
Real projects create strong stories, photos and videos with people, machines, prototypes and visible learning moments.
Support is possible in the form of sponsorship, contributions in kind, network contributions, workshops or project partnerships. The most sensible thing to do is to have a direct conversation about goals, visibility and appropriate contributions.
